Atuonwo takes over from Buba as PPPRA chair, Saidu remains Executive Secretary

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointments of Mr. Atunowo Obinna as Chairman, and Abdulkadir Saidu as Executive Secretary respectively for the Petroleum Product Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA) .
This was contained in a press statement released on Friday to the media by Femi Adesina, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity .
Mr Abdulkadir Saidu, whose tenure recently elapsed was reappointed for another four years’ term.
The President’s statement said that the appointment of Mr. Obinna as Chairman, Governing Board for a four-year term was in accordance with Section 2 (1-3) and 3 (a) of the Petroleum Product Pricing Regulatory Agency (Establishment, ETC) Act 2003.
He replaces Mohammed Buba who was appointed in 2016 as chairman of PPPRA, following the Nigerian Labour Congress’s (NLC) demand that the federal government reconstitute the agency’s Board.
The PPPRA, is an autonomous agency primarily saddled with the responsibility of determining the pricing policy of petroleum products, and regulate their supply and distribution. The Agency was established by an Act of the Parliament in 2003.
