Dr. Sule Abdulaziz, managing director and chief executive officer of the Transmission Commission of Nigeria, TCN on Monday, visited the new multi-circuit towers erected on the Kaduna-Jos Transmission Line route for inspection.
The new circuit tower which now carries three lines of 500 megawatts (MW) each, has increased the capacity of bulk power transmission along the route from 500MW to 1,500MW.
The intention by the Commission to expand the transmission line was earlier disclosed by its General Manager, Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, via a statement made in Abuja on Monday, December 6.
Mbah said that the upgrade will increase the capacity of the transmission line from 500MW to 1500MW.
She stated that the upgrade would be completed within eight days of reconstruction, being between December 8 to 15.
The upgraded Kaduna-Jos Transmission Line is an eight triple-circuit tower at the intersection point of the new double-circuit and the existing single-circuit 330kV transmission lines.
