Osun State University, others in darkness as Ikire transformer breaks down

The Osun State University in Ikire and surrounding communities  are currently experiencing power outages due to a fault detected on the Ikire 7.5MVA transformer by the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company, IBEDC, on Friday.

In a notice signed by the DisCo’s (Electricity Distribution Company’s) management in Osun, Friday afternoon, the company stated that the institution of learning is among its customers who are affected by the undisclosed fault.

“Due to a technical fault on the Ikire 7.5MVA transformer, customers in the following communities under Ikire and Apomu 11kV feeders: Atoto, Panada, Popo, Anajere, Sunmoye, Oke Ola, Ako, Osun State University Lakosin, Sabo, Center, Jolaiya, High Court, Irewole L.G, Sagba, Oke Olufi, Oke Ada, Onireke, Sango, Etteh, Awotedo 1, 2 & 3, Molete, Access Bank, Oke-Ola Apomu, Baba Kekere, Oja Total, Bodude, Lagbaja 1 & 2 and Kajola are experiencing power outage,” the notice reads.

IBEDC which has sent its team to rectify the fault has however promised to restore power to the areas affected, as soon as possible.

“Our technical team is working to ensure power supply is restored. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience,” the DisCo said.
