EKEDC partners Nigeria Army to check vandalism

The Management of Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC), Mushin District, has strengthened partnership with the Nigerian Armed Forces Resettlement Centre (NAFRC) to monitor and clamp down on vandals of electricity facility and equipment in its network.

The Management while hosting the newly appointed Commandant of the NAFRC, Air Vice-Marshal Idi Gamso Lubo and his entourage, made plans to increase surveillance activities around its power infrastructure and ensure that criminals are caught and punished.

It explained that the purpose of the meeting which came during the Commandant’s assumption of office was to further strengthen the existing relationship between its network and the NAFRC.

The Electricity Distribution Company (DisCo) disclosed on Monday that the meeting was centered around security support to counter vandalism (especially to safeguard installations), and to ensure increment in bill payment as well as separation of Mami market from the NAFRC Centre.

Air Vice-Marshal Lubo in his response, talked about the rise in power equipment vandalism, disclosing that his intelligence officers have already put mechanisms in place to secure the installations within their network and discuss the same with other security agencies.

He promised that he will also look into the challenge with payment of electricity bills, from NAFRC’s end.

Officials of the district present at the meeting included: Senior Manager, Distribution; Commercial Manager, District Finance Officer, the district’s legal officers, Human Resource; business partners; District Security Inspector; and the Corporate Communication Team.
