Work continues on Bichi substation as TCN sets April as completion deadline

The Transmission Company of Nigeria TCN has disclosed that work was ongoing at the project site of the 30MVA, 132/33kV Bichi Transmission Substation in Bichi, Kano State.

According to a statement issued by the company on Thursday, the transmission substation which is expected to facilitate the delivery of steady electricity to 7 Local Government Areas in Kano will be completed and energized by April.

“30MVA, 132/33kV transmission substation, Bichi, Kano State, being constructed by TCN in-house engineers.

“The project will be completed and energized by April, 2022,” the statement reads.

In a related manner, TCN revealed that the Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC), during one of its visits to stakeholders in Abuja on Wednesday, visited TCN’s Ag. MD/CEO, Engr. Sule Ahmed Abdulaziz, to dialogue on critical issues in the power sector.

It said that the Eko DisCo Team which comprised of its top-management officials, including its Chairman, Mr. Oritsedere Otubu, and its Managing Director/CEO, Engr. Adeoye Fadeyibi; had discussions on substations, lines projects, amongst other relevant issues.

The two parties also seized the opportunity to discuss the way-forward on bulk power supply to the Power Distribution Company (DisCo) against the backdrop of the recurring cases of low transmission to its network.

“Top Management of Eko Disco led by its new Chairman, Mr. Oritsedere Otubu, met with TCN Management, to discuss issues of mutual interest, including substations and lines projects as well as other areas of collaboration that would positively impact bulk power supply to Eko Disco,” the TCN disclosed.
