Yola DisCo nabs two electricity cable thieves in Adamawa

The Yola Electricity Distribution Company has confirmed the arrest of two men for attempting to steal electricity cable from a substation in Kwajjafa, Hawul Local Government Area, Adamawa, Borno State.

This was revealed in a statement by YEDC on Monday, while confirming the arrests of the vandals.

According to DisCo, the arrest was part of the company’s continuous onslaught against vandalism around distribution substations. YEDC revealed that the actions of the vandals are detrimental to its mission to rehabilitate, rebuild and reinforce its network.

The statement revealed that two individuals were apprehended while vandalizing the cables at a substation in Kwajjafa, Hawul Local Government Area of Borno State.

 

“The activity is responsible for the outage in all the communities within our network, including Federal Housing Estate No.3, Sangere Futy, Graveyard, and Nyibango-Barracks Road substations in Adamawa State.

 

“This act of vandalism causes prolonged outages and service disruptions to the affected communities and businesses.

 

YEDC in the statement appealed to communities to remain vigilant and report any individual or group of persons seen illegally tampering with distribution assets, especially substation/transformers.
