NDDC terminates 85 electrification projects, 36 solar projects, 1,180 other contracts awarded before 2019

The Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, has announced the cancellation of of 1,301 contracts including 85 electrification projects, 36 solar water projects, awarded by the Commission before December 31, 2019, for which the contractors are yet to mobilize to site.
This was contained in a statement released by Dr. Ibitoye Abosede, NDDC Director of Corporate Affairs, and obtained by EnergyDay on Monday.

Dr Ibitoye, in the statement said that the cancellation followed a directive from the Presidency.
EnergyDay gathered that the contracts included 829 roads, 97 buildings, 85 electrification projects, 71 land reclamation projects and 63 desilting contracts.
Others are 51 sand filling projects, 17 shore protection projects, 36 solar water projects, among others.
Some of the power contracts includes the award of contract for the installation of the 1 NO. 300KVA, 11/0.415KV transformer at LANDLORDS & TENANT ASSOCIATION, TP JUNCTION BY MCC ROAD, ABA” awarded to Nabochi global services in February 2015.
Rehabilitation of Solar Powered Water/ Street Light in Umuihie Odo-Umulolo, Umuahia South LGA, awarded to ADVANCE GLOBAL RESOURES LTD, in September, 2017.
Others are award of contract for the installations of 1 No. 300KVA, 33/0.415KV tranformer at Egede, Uratta Autonomous community and Egede, Urrata Autonomous community, and installation of 1 No. 300KVA/33KV transformer at SDA Church Umexe, Abiaba/Abaji, Asa, Abia state both awarded to FELOP GLOBAL RESOURCES in February, 2015.
The Itam switching station to Uyo Tranmission, erection of 132 line bay to Uyo transmission, erection, erection of 132 line bay to Uyo sibstation, 132KV Dc trasmission line from Ekparakwa to Ibot Ekpene and 2 X 132kv line bay extension at Ekparakwa substation, Akwa Ibom State,Lot 4, awarded to MODEV NIG LTD, in 2014.

NDDC Director of Corporate Affairs in the statement revealed that the action was a fall out of the forensic audit and Presidential directive issued earlier in May 2022.
The statement reads in parts
“This is to bring to the notice of all contractors engaged by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), as well as stakeholders and the general public, that the Presidency has directed that all projects awarded by the Commission before December 31, 2019, for which the beneficiary contractors are yet to mobilise to site, are by this directive cancelled.
“This cancellation is subject to any future re-award in accordance with the Public Procurement Act and in line with the terms of the contracts for the award of the said projects.
“Consequently, all affected contractors are advised to note that all monies earlier received by way of mobilization for any of the projects are to be promptly refunded to the Commission’s Account with the Central Bank of Nigeria,” the statement read.
