Viathan Group seals commercial power service agreement with Sweetco foods

Viathan Group, a Nigerian-based energy company has entered into a power service agreement with SweetCo Foods, manufacturers of candies and confectioneries in Nigeria, through the deployment of gas-fired electricity generating equipment to power the entire manufacturing plant in Ibadan, Oyo state.
This was revealed in a statement obtained by EnergyDay on Monday.
EnergyDay’s check showed that Viathan Group, an indigenous provider of captive and embedded power, is reputed to have been supplying uninterrupted and reliable power solutions to government and commercial establishments including residential clients within the Nigerian (off-grid) power solutions sector using natural gas as fuel.

Based on the commercial agreement between the two companies which commenced in July 2022, Viathan Group is expected to deploy gas-fired electricity generating equipment that will provide clean energy coupled with a dedicated supply of CNG from Viathna’s sister company Gasco Marine Limited.
The embedded power supplier noted that the power deal will not only guarantee steady affordable power but will help provide a cleaner and healthier environment to the Sweetco manufacturing plant in Ibadan.
EnergyDay’s check showed that Viathan is an energy company with an interest in power generation, power distribution, and gas reticulation. distribution services since 2011, when it was incorporated, acquired, and invested in several gas-fired plants including, PIPP LVI Genco (Lekki); Akute Power Plant; Island Power Plant; Lisabi Power, in Abeokuta, Ogun State, and Ilupeju Power Plant, Lagos.

The company has an existing combined capacity of Independent Power Plants (IPPs) of 60MegaWatts, with a clear target to grow capacity to 200MW within a five-year period.

Sweetco is a leading manufacturer of a wide range of confectionery, savoury and crunchy products, and snacks for people of all ages. They are headquartered in Ibadan, Oyo State.
