The Presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress(APC) has vowed to ensure constant electricity, end both estimated billings, and petrol subsidy “by all means” if elected president in 2023.

Asiwaju made the promise at a luncheon with business owners titled ‘business forward’ on Thursday at the Wings, Victoria Island, Lagos.

According to him, By all means, you must have electricity. And you won’t pay for estimated billing anymore. When I become president, multiple exchange rates will go away. Go and write it down

Highlighting some of his campaign promises, Asiwaju Tinubu revealed that he would make bold decisions of turning the economy around, including removing the controversial fuel subsidy.

He said, “Nigeria will not continue to subsidise fuel consumption in neighbouring countries. How can we be subsidizing the fuel consumption of Cameroon, Niger, and the Benin Republic? No matter how long you protest, we are going to remove the subsidy. We can do it. We are educated enough.”

Tinubu also promised to open rooms for collaborations with the private sector in the area of building massive infrastructural renewal that enhance economic opportunities.

He said, “Spare some of the expenditures to lay gas pipelines to Europe. I don’t care what Russia will say, I want to compete”

“Our guiding principle regarding economic policy shall be to provide the right policy framework so that business can flourish.

“But I want to do more than help existing businesses to exist. We must create a space where new sectors and lines of business can open. We must grow this economy so that it can accommodate over 200 million people with a decent standard of living.

“My government will collaborate with the private sector to bring about the massive infrastructural renewal that enhances economic opportunities, and lower business costs, and overheads while producing jobs that spur further growth and development through increased consumer demand.

“What I intend to do is to thank you, create a committee out of you, couple your ideas, and mold you into a circuit breaker. This is what I will do when I’m elected president

“My aim is to develop local manufacturing and value-added businesses. My aim is to deepen consumer lending, increase affordable housing and provide business owners with low-cost loans modernize operations and improve productivity.

“My aim is to reform the structural foundation of our economy. To accomplish this major feat, the government and the private [sector] must work hand in hand.

The APC Presidential candidate further noted that his economic policy will stimulate a world-leading start-up ecosystem. He said, “I want our brilliant entrepreneurs to continue to innovate our people out of poverty and lead us toward the path of prosperity.”
