TCN takes delivery of WB-funded transformers, switchgear accessories for Lagos, Ogun substations

In line with the commitment towards the efficient execution of the grid expansion programme, the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has taken delivery of truckloads of transformers, transformers accessories, control room, and switchyard accessories for its TCN-Alagbon, Ijora, Ota, and Egbin substations located in Lagos and Ogun states.

This was contained in a statement signed and released by Mrs Ndidi Mbah, TCN’s General Manager, Public Affairs at the weekend/

According to her the truckloads of transformers/transformers accessories and control room/switchyard accessories are expected to upgrade the capacity of all the TCN’s substations in  Alagbon, Ijora , Ota and Egbin.

She said, “The Alagbon 330/132.33Kv Transmission Substation received a truckload of 2×100/125MVA power transformers and accessories.  The transformers on installation will increase the capacity of the Alagbon substation to 480MW.

“TCN’s Ijora 132/33kV transmission substation, Lagos also took delivery of trucks containing one number 1000MVA transformer and accessories at its 132/33kV ijora transmission substation, The transformers will add 80MW to the capacity of the substation.

Mbah noted that a truckloads of transformers accessories only has been delivered to TCN’s Ota 132/33kV substation, Ogun state, while 1X100/125MVA, 132/33Kv transformer will however be delivered to transmission substation later in the week.

The TCN spokesperson further stated that TCN’s Egbin 330/132Kv Transmission substation took delivery of 330kV and 132kV switchgears and accessories.

She noted that that equipment will be used to replace all obsolete 330KV and 132kV switchgear in the facility to boost the efficient operation of the grid.

Mbah however noted that all these projects are being vigorously pursued to ensure their timely execution and completion.
