Four days outage hits Edo state, as Benin DisCo embarks on maintenance of injection sub-station

Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) has announced four days of outage, which would likely disrupt business activities in major part of Benin/Agbor road, as the DisCo embarks on critical maintenance on Guinness Injection sub-station, Benin, Edo State from Monday, March 13, to Thursday, March 16, 2023.

This was contained in a statement obtained by EnergyDay at the weekend from the DisCo.

EnergyDay’s check showed that the Guinness Injection substation is located along the Benin Agbor road, immediately after Guinness Nigeria Limited Brewery premises.

Our correspondent gathered that the injection substation is fed by the Ikpoba Dam 33kv feeder connected to the Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN’s Benin 132/33kv transmission station along Benin/Sapele road, Benin City, Edo state.

According to the statement, the area under the Guinness Injection substation that would be affected by the outage includes Jemila road, Oregbani market and environs, Igiesota road, NSP quarters Eweka road, BDPA Estate, Benin/Agbor road, Ohovbe quarters, Ogbeson quarters, and Queen Eded area.

EnergyDay gathered that most of the commercial banks, hotels, and eateries on Benin/Auchi road and part of Benin/Agbor road, are also going to be affected by the four days outage.

The DisCos in the statement apologised to the customers for the inconvenience that the outage may occur, promising to restore the power once the activities are completed.
