NMDPRA launches midstream, downstream oil & gas service permit portal, unveils 6 gazetted industry regulations

The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) has launched the Midstream and Downstream Oil and Gas Industry Service Permit (MDOGISP) portal to harmonize all service providers for the industry and also unveiled six (6) gazetted regulations to support sustainable growth and investment across the midstream and downstream sectors.

Engr. Farouk Ahmed, NMDPRA, Chief Executive Officer launched the MDOGISP portal and unveiled the 6 regulations on Wednesday, in Abuja.

According to him the launch of the MDOGISP and the gazetting of the six new regulations are essential milestones towards fulfilling the NMDPRA’s unwavering commitment to creating an efficient and sustainable sector.

EnergyDay gathered that the six regulations are Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Operations; Petroleum Measurement Regulations; Assignment or Transfer of Licence and Permit; Natural Gas Pipeline Tariffs, Gas Pricing, Domestic Demand and Delivery and Petroleum (Transportation and Shipment).
Engr. Farouk said that the regulations are designed to foster industry expansion through regulatory clarity, fairness, transparency, and Industry best practice.

The NMDPRA boss called on all stakeholders to note that with effect from March 31st, 2023, any company desiring to do business with the Authority must be registered and issued a permit.

He added that in addition to the 6 regulations being launched, 14 other regulations have been developed and will be issued shortly, making a total of twenty new regulations.

The ACE however emphasised that the MDOGISP portal is dedicated to harmonizing all service providers for the industry.
