The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), Benin region has taken delivery of 300MVA 330/132/33kV and 100MVA 132/33kV power transformers, eight truckloads of transformer accessories at its Benin 330/132/33kV Transmission substation.

Ndidi Mbah, General Manager, Public Affairs, made this known in a statement obtained by EnergyDay, on the sideline of a plan to improve power supply in the Benin Region.
She noted that the TCN’s management has deemed it fit to implement strategic projects that spread across the Benin region, as part of the commitment to improve the interconnectivity of the region to some power stations in the country.
Mbah stated that the Effurun Transmission Substation in Delta State under the Benin region recently received a new 100MVA 132/33kV power transformer with transformer accessories.
EnergyDay gathered that the TCN had earlier installed and energized a new 150MVA 330/132/33kV inter bus Transformer (IBTR) at Delta IV Transmission Substation, Ughelli, Delta State.

The TCN’s spokesperson stated that the installation of the transformers and delivery of new ones and accessories has restored flexibility to the substation and enabled the transmission company to evacuate power from Transcorp Power Limited at both 330kV and 132kV voltage levels.

She noted that the Benin region spans through Edo, Delta, part of Ekiti and Ondo States, adding that the region has ongoing projects at different stages of completion.

Some of the projects according to her include the upgrading of 2x30MVA transformers with 80MVA at the Ondo work Centre; the installation of a 60MVA transformer at Ughelli Substation; the Installation of another 2x80MVA transformer at the substation.
