“Egbin power retains title as Champion of Saharalympics for second year in a row

Egbin Power Plc emerged as the champion at the finals of the 5th edition of Saharalympics Games, organized for all entities of the energy conglomerate, Sahara Group. This is the second consecutive victory for the electricity generation company.

This was revealed in a statement released by Bethel Obioma,Head, Corporate Communications, Sahara Group, obtained by EnergyDay. 
According to her the Saharalympics personifies our collective passion for success and the spirit of unity within the Sahara Group. It is a platform that nurtures our competitive spirit, enhances camaraderie, and strengthens the bonds that fuel the Group passion for being MAD, that is, making a difference.

The games were keenly contested by five entities – Asharami Energy, Ikeja Electric, Egbin Power, Asharami Synergy, and Sahara Group Limited.

At the finals, Egbin Power clinched the highest number of gold medals in most of the games. They won the 100 meters female and male, 200 meters male, and Ping Pong race. In total, Egbin Power secured 11 gold, 7 silver, and 4 bronze medals.

Mokhtar Bounour, the Chief Executive Officer of Egbin Power, expressed excitement over the team’s victorious performance. He attributed their success to teamwork, dedication, and consistent preparation by the staff.

The Saharalympics is a biennial game organized for Sahara Group’s employees across Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. The 5th edition of the tournament featured various games such as football, volleyball, basketball, lawn table tennis, table tennis, chess, scrabble, draft, and ayo, including track and field
