Senator Godswill Akpabio-led 10th Senate has constituted the energy industry standing committees and their leadership to conduct effective oversight and decision-making on issues related to the energy sector in Nigeria.

 

The names of the Committees Chairmen were included in the 73 various standing committees of the 10th Senate at the red chamber on Tuesday, in Abuja.

 

The Senate President, during the plenary, announced Senator Jarigbe Jarigbe, as Chairman, Senate Committee on Gas, Senator Etang Williams, as Chairman, Senate Committee on Upstream Petroleum, Senator Jide Ipinsagba, Chairman, Committee on Downstream Petroleum Resources, and Benson Agadaga, as Chairman, Senate Committee on Oil and Gas Host Communities.

 

Senator Abaribe Eyinnaya was also announced as the Chairman, Senate Committee on Power, while Senator Ohere Sadiku, was named Chairman Senate Committee on Local Content and  Asukuo Ekpenyong, Chairman, Senate Committee on NDDC.

 

EnergyDay gathered that these committees will be responsible for conducting investigations and making recommendations on matters related to their respective areas of focus within the energy industry.

 

The Standing Committee will contribute to the development and regulation of the upstream petroleum, gas, oil and gas host communities, and power sectors in Nigeria.

 

The formation of the Energy Industry Standing Committees is a significant step toward promoting transparency, accountability, and efficiency in the energy sector.

 

The committees are expected to engage with stakeholders, experts, and industry players to gather insights and develop policies that will drive sustainable growth and development in the energy industry.
