In a surprising turn of events, Engr. Adeoye Fadeyibi, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC), has resigned from his position after a meeting with the Board and Executive Management team, and he was immediately replaced by Mr. Christopher Ezeafulukwe, the immediate MD/CEO of Transcorp Energy.

EnergyDay gathered that Engr. Adeoye Fadeyibi’s resignation as the MD/CEO of AEDC has left many in the energy industry shocked, after leading the company in its efforts to improve electricity distribution in Abuja and its franchise areas.

Fadeyibi was appointed to the position in 2022, after resigning as the Managing Director of Eko Electricity Distribution Company, (EKEDC).

The exact reasons for Fadeyibi’s resignation have not been disclosed as of the period of filling this report.

Mr. Donald Etim, AEDC Chief Marketing Office, in a telephone conversation with EnergyDay, in respect of the development, revealed that he has not been authorized to comment on the matter.

He, therefore, promised to reach out to our correspondent as soon as the Board approves.

A source who was not authorised to communicate on the matter informed EnergyDay that Fadeyibi’s decision is related to internal dynamics within the company.

Regardless, his departure marks the end of an era for AEDC.

EnergyDay gathered that Mr. Ezeafulukwe, the immediate past MD/CEO of Transcorp Energy, has officially taken over as the new MD/CEO of AEDC.

Ezeafulukwe brings with him a wealth of experience in the energy sector, having previously served in leadership positions in other reputable organizations.

The appointment of Ezeafulukwe is expected to bring a fresh perspective and renewed energy to AEDC, as the company continues to build on the legacy of Engr. Fadeyibi, and advance the DisCo’s mission to provide efficient and reliable electricity distribution services.

EnergyDay will be closely watching as the new AEDC MD/CEO takes on this important leadership position.
