11 Discos get 2,723.25GWh of electricity in November 2023

Reports emanating from Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, NERC, indicated ta nihat 11 electricity distribution companies in the country took receipt of a total of 2,723.23GWh of electricity, valued at N133.3 billion in November 2023.

The Discos concerned are Abuja, Benin, Eko, Enugu, Ibadan, Ikeja, Jos, Kaduna, Kano, Port Harcourt and Yola electricity distribution companies.

In the Data released by NERC on the commercial performance of Discos, while Ikeja and Abuja received the highest volume of power, 415.44GWh and 415GWh each, in the month under review, Yola Discos got the least volume of 97.18GWh of power.

In the same manner, Ikeja and Eko Discos took receipt of the highest revenue of N20.1billion and N16.8billion from electricity in the period under review, while Kaduna and Yola Discos collected the least revenue of N2.8billion and N2.2billion respectively, on its own Port Harcourt Disco got N6.77billion in November.

In a related development, the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission has issued two licenses to the Alaro Connect Free Zone Enterprise at Alaro City in Epe, Lagos State, to generate and distribute electricity within the free zone.

The reason for the first licence, according to the regulator, is for Embedded Electricity Generation of 10 megawatts capacity at the Alaro City, Northwest Quadrant, Lekki-Epe Expressway in Epe, Lagos.

NERC also granted the second licence for the purpose of Independent Electricity Distribution within Alaro City.
