A delegation of the Shell Companies in Nigeria recently paid a facility visit to the 650,000 barrels per day capacity Dangote Refinery and Petrochemicals Plant in Lagos.

The Shell delegation was led by Managing Director, The Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Limited and Country Chair, Shell Companies in Nigeria, Osagie Okunbor.

Other members of the delegation include Head of Business Development, Shell Trading and Shipping Company (STASCO), Filippo Bof; Managing Director, Shell Western Supply and Trading, Rodrigo Teixeira de Abreu; and STASCO’s Business Development Manager (Nigeria), Bridget Ehime.

They also met with Alhaji Aliko Dangote, President of Dangote Industries Limited.

Both the Dangote Group and members of the Shell delegation have maintained sealed lips in the wake of the visit.

However, it is important to note that the visit comes in the wake of Alhaji Aliko Dangote, President of the Dangote Group alleging that the IOCs were frustrating his refinery’s efforts to procure crude oil supplies locally.

“The NNPC is doing its best, but some of the IOCs, they are struggling to give us crude, everybody is used to exporting and nobody wants to stop exporting,” he stated last month.

As the IOC with one of the most extensive hydrocarbon footprint in Nigeria, it is anticipated that the visit may be a harbinger of more enduring crude oil supplies to the Dangote Refinery which had resorted to sources supplies from the United States of America.
