NNPC Ltd, industry players, security agencies collaborate to stem oil theft

In a renewed drive to tackle oil theft and pipeline vandalism and reduce the menace to the barest minimum , NNPC Ltd, key industry players, and security agencies have aligned forces to curb the illegal activity in the Niger Delta region.
The important synergy was reached at a Strategic Security Stakeholders’ Meeting held at the Six Division Army Headquarters in Port Harcourt aimed at strengthening security measures and share intelligence to prevent and detect oil theft, vandalism, and other criminal activities.
The meeting brought together the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa; NNPC Ltd.’s GCEO, Mr. Mele Kyari; Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa; Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Senator Heineken Lokpobiri; Board Chairman, NNPC Ltd., Chief Pius Akinyelure; Chief Executive, NMDPRA, Mr. Farouk Ahmed and other key stakeholders.
During the meeting, GCEO of NNPC Ltd., Mr. Mele Kyari assured Nigerians that the menace of oil theft and vandalism of critical hydrocarbon infrastructure in the Niger Delta, which has impacted the nation’s crude oil production, will soon be curtailed.
Kyari hinted that all security agencies have now agreed to collaborate effectively to eliminate oil theft, following President Bola Tinubu’s directive to increase oil production, grow reserves and enhance revenue generation.
