TransAfam gets 50MW embedded power contract with Abuja Electric

TransAfam Power Limited, a subsidiary of Transcorp Plc, has  secured  a Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, with Abuja Electricity Distribution Plc, AEDC for a 50MW embedded power generation project.

The project, billed to executed at the Idu commercial hub in Abuja, is projected usher in  reliable power to the industrial sector, driving growth and innovation in Nigeria’s capital city.

This is even as  Transcorp Group led a consortium that acquired a 60% equity stake in AEDC in May last year, with a commitment to transforming the company into a customer-focused electricity distribution leader in the country.

Announcing the deal on Wednesday, President and Group CEO of Transcorp, Owen Omogiafo, said the partnership underscores the company’s commitment to bridging the energy gap and improving the power sector in Nigeria.

Omogiafo said, “This partnership will deliver reliable power to Abuja’s industrial sector and highlight our commitment to driving industrial growth and energy innovation in Nigeria.

“Electricity is critical to the sustainable transformation of our dear country, Nigeria. We remain committed to the improvement of the power sector and will continue to seek opportunities to bridge the energy gap.

“Congratulations to Vincent Ozoude, Chijioke Okwuokenye, and the entire team for this achievement.”

TransAfam is the operator and owner of

Afam IV power station and Afam V power station with a combined generation capacity of 966 MW, in Okoloma, Afam in Oyigbo Local Government Area of Rivers State.
