Seplat’s former GM gas, Yetunde Taiwo joins First E&P

Mrs. Yetunde Taiwo has joined Exploration & Petroleum Development Company, as the new General Manager, Integrated Gas Development, after quitting the same role with Seplat Energy.
Her appointment was confirmed in a statement by FIRST Exploration & Petroleum (E&P) obtained by EnergyDay on Friday.
According to the statement, we are pleased to announce that Mrs. Yetunde Taiwo has joined FIRST E&P as the new General Manager, Integrated Gas Development.
“Mrs. Taiwo, a respected leader in the industry, comes with over 30 years of wealth of experience in the upstream Oil and Gas business and an impressive background spanning various operational, commercial, and management roles.
“She will be instrumental in shaping the next wave of growth in FIRST E&P specifically in the gas midstream and downstream sectors,” the statement concluded.
EnergyDay gathered that the former Seplat GM Gas served in that capacity for exactly two years, superintending over Seplat to increase gas production monetised in the form of LPG, CNG, and other gas derivatives.
Apart from her experience as Gas Manager, she was Seplat’s former Chief Executive Officer, ANOH Gas Processing Company (AGPC), an incorporated Joint Venture shared between Seplat and Nigerian Gas Company (NGC).
She studied Petroleum Engineering at Nigeria’s premier university, University of Ibadan, where she bagged a Bachelor of Science degree in 1990. She worked briefly with Elf Nigeria Limited (now TOTAL) after graduation.
Taiwo started her professional career in the oil and gas industry as a reservoir engineer in 1991, during her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) days.
She later joined BG E&P IN 2007, as a planning adviser, in its Asset Management Division.
She worked for BG as Economic Manager and later moved on to Seplat in May 2011, as Head of Planning & Economics. In 2013, she joined NAPIM, as GM Planning and Economics, she was promoted to a new role as Head of Gas Business, when she resigned to rejoin Seplat in 2015. She was in that company till January 2023, when she joined First E&P. She is married with two children.
FIRST E&P is an indigenous upstream oil and gas company. It achieved its first oil from the Anyala West field in Oil Mining Leases OMLs 83 and 85, a shallow water field, offshore Bayelsa State, Nigeria, 27 months after the project FID.
The Anyala field and Madu Fields have approximately 1 tcf of gas, as it is within a radius of 60-80 km.
