Vehicle crashes into DISCO pole lines in Abuja neighborhoods , causes power outages

A Nissan Jeep reportedly rammed into some overhead poles which have affected some accessories and two nearby poles in Wuse, Abuja.

The incident resulted in power outages in Wuse Zones 1-7, Jabi, part of Lifecamp, Mbora Estate and environs.

According to the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC), the said vehicle was on a patrol when it suddenly crashed into the pole lines Sunday morning, with some people sustaining injuries.

In a statement released yesterday, the management of the AEDC said: “At about 0937hours of this morning, 33kV feeders 3&8 (Double Circuit) from Central TS tripped on fault.

“During patrol, Nissan Jeep was discovered to have crashed Into the overhead lines at Graceland Garden a few meters away from the bridge dividing Wuse 2 and Wuse Zone 4. Two poles and overhead lines accessories were affected.

“This accident has resulted in power outage to Wuse Zones 1-7, Jabi, part of Mbora estate and environs.”

The statement also revealed that one of the persons who sustained injuries from the crash have been taken to the hospital for medical attention.

“One of the victims has been taken the hospital while effort is being made to ensure timely resolution of the matter and restoration of supply to the affected areas,” the management disclosed.
